Seven letters in the shape of a rifle
PATRIOT is lettered so the word itself forms a rifle: the P curls into the stock, the letters run down the barrel line, and the T at the end squares off like a muzzle. Word and image occupy the same stitches, so you can't read one without seeing the other.
That overlap is the point: for this design, the patriot and the rifle are drawn with the same line. It says in silhouette what other caps spend a paragraph on.
