Lady Liberty, still holding the torch
The Statue of Liberty has stood in New York Harbor since 1886, torch raised, welcoming ships and generations of newcomers to a country that had already declared itself free. Putting her on an Independence Day shirt links two American stories at once, the founding and the promise that came after it.
